The Vegan Street Food Revolution

Whether you are plant-based for life or toying with Veganuary, it's a great time to explore the wide range of vegan street food the Market has to offer.

The Genesis Burger at Genesis

Everything on their menu is 100% plant-based, which makes choosing which vegan dish to pick a real challenge at Genesis.

A good place to start is their signature Genesis Burger, laden with pickles, garlic mayo and their secret Genesis Sauce. Want a little more? Grab some Korean BBQ Seitan Wings to share and a side of their famous Kimchi Fries.

Traditional Plate at Merkamo

Our longstanding traders Merkamo have a reputation for serving up some of East London’s best vegan lunches – and with very good reason…

Their colourful Ethiopian salad plates taste as good as they look and are packed with nutrients. First-timers should opt for the Injera Traditional plate to sample a little bit of everything the stall has to offer, including roasted beans, okra and lentils – served with injera, a rolled Ethiopian flatbread.

Vegan Dumplings at Dumpling Shack

Ensuring you don’t miss out on eating at one of the most coveted Kitchens, the Vegan Dumplings from Dumpling Shack are packed with authentic flavour and don’t disappoint.

Made using vermicelli, celery, carrot, shiitake mushroom and tofu filling, they are best enjoyed with a dash of their homemade chilli oil.

Sweetgreen Poke Bowl at Ahi Poke

While they also feature some great seasonal vegan specials, we are pleased to say the100% plant-based Sweetgreen poke bowl is firmly on the fixed signature menu at Ahi Poke.

Allow yourself to be transported to warmer climes with this tasty mix of kale, smoked tofu, red onion, charred corn, rainbow carrot, radish and sweet potato, available with an array of tempting dressings.

Vegan Dry Mix at Fen Noodles

Dumpling Shack’s “little brother” and neighbour Kitchen is the place to go if you’ve got a hankering for noodles.

The Vegan Dry Mix features their signature hand-pulled noodles, tossed in a spicy tangy sauce and topped with pak choi and smoky charred corn.

Crispy Tofu & Miso-glaze Mushroom at Yum Bun

There’s double the fun at Yum Bun, with not one, but two vegan buns to choose from.

Both their Crispy Tofu with garlicky greens and their Miso-glazed Portabello Mushroom are available in vegan form – just make sure you ask for vegan buns and mayo when you order.

Bubble Waffle at Nosteagia

If you’re craving something sweet, vegan AND more than a little indulgent, our Hong Kong-style Bubble Waffle stall, Nosteagia, have got your back.

Create your ultimate vegan waffle, choosing from a huge array of fillings including strawberry, blueberry, pistachio, raspberry, banana, lotus cookie, Oreo, peanuts, vegan cream, caramel, peanut butter and vegan Belgium dark chocolate. Come hungry.

Crepes and Galettes at Crêpeaffaire

With a brilliant vegan menu all year round, Crêpeaffaire Veganuary HARD.

This month all dairy-free milk options are free, plus they have teamed up with @onetreeplanted to plant at least 200 trees (approximately 1 tree for every 10 vegan crêpes sold), offsetting our cardboard usage in our takeaway packaging.

From savoury galettes to the naughty but nice ‘Whole Shebang’, visit for vegan versions of all of your favourites and more.

Vegan Suika Tuna at Wagamama

Available to eat in, or takeaway, the Wagamama Vegan Suika Tuna is the pant-based dish that’s got everyone talking this year.

Promising to be as flavourful as it is pretty, this dehydrated watermelon steak is dressed and seared in the wok, before served with miso sesame wok-fried kale, tenderstem broccoli, avocado, edamame &  tofu guacamole and pickled radish on sticky white rice, then topped with crispy fried shallots, sesame seeds, fresh chilli + lime.

Southern Fried Seitan at The Diner

The Diner have been making sure we can get our vegan comfort food fix for some time now… serving up everything from vegan Pancake Stacks to vegan Mac n Cheese.

Check out their Souther-Fried Seitan Burger for that KFC kick, without the “C”.
